Trampoline Safety Practices

Trampolines are very popular item among children and adults. In fact, there are a large number of trampoline parks and recreation facilities emerging throughout the nation. Granting, there are some who would discourage using a trampoline. Some say that they are very unsafe. However, trampolines can actually be a lot of fun as well as safe as long as you follow a few safety guidelines.

As WebMD discloses, kids need to have fun but safety should always be a priority. Taking extra precautions will oftentimes prevent injuries. In truth, kids will stay a lot safer as long as a few tips are followed. WebMD has numerous suggestions to keep your children safe. For instance, children should not be allowed to do somersaults. Likewise, kids should never be permitted to jump to high. Oftentimes a child will become very excited. Their excitement can actually cause them to land wrong when jumping to high. Instead, train them to control their jumping in order to prevent your child from losing control. Also, make sure that your kids are always supervised by an adult. Having an adult present can stop a lot of accidents from occurring. In order to prevent falls, side nets should be always used. In addition, there only one child at a time should be allowed on the trampoline.

The Mayo Clinic also has some great advice on keeping your kids safe on a trampoline. They suggest that you keep the device on level ground so that it stays properly balanced. The device should also be at least 10 feet (3 meters) away from trees and other objects like a fence or your house. As well, pads should be used to cover the steel frame, springs and hooks. The pads need to be in good condition and placed appropriately. The Mayo Clinic also feels that a child should be supervised by an adult, no exceptions. Likewise, a child needs to be at least 6 years old before they are allowed to jump on a trampoline. Additionally, when the trampoline is not in use, make sure to store the access ladder out of site so children are not tempted to use the trampoline unsupervised.

Trampolines are a great source of exercise and entertainment. In fact, your kids will enjoy hours of fun throughout the summer months. Likewise, your children will remain safe as long as the trampoline is properly installed, it has the right security gear such as pads and a net and if safety guidelines are always followed.
